Having qualified as a solicitor in 2006, which gave me a strong grounding in structured thinking and clear written communication. Although I chose not to continue in legal practice, the skills developed during that time continue to shape how I approach freelance copywriting work today.
I moved into professional recruitment, where I first saw how effective copy supports real business needs. Writing job descriptions, employer messaging, and candidate profiles showed me how language influences understanding and trust. This experience helped me develop a practical approach to business copywriting, grounded in day-to-day commercial environments.
After the financial crash in 2008, I transitioned into tech sales, working with multinational organisations, startups, and scale-ups. During this time, writing became central to how I maintained relationships and communicated credibility online. This included blog posts and articles, clear website copy, and supporting sales and marketing materials used across digital channels.
When in-person meetings became less common during Covid, written communication took on even greater importance. I relied on a consistent mix of LinkedIn content, blog writing for SEO, and email newsletters and campaigns to stay connected with existing contacts and to build new relationships. Alongside this, I worked on case studies and customer stories that reflected real experiences rather than promotional language. Using these channels together encouraged steady engagement and inbound enquiries over time.
Today, I provide freelance copywriting services for businesses that need clear, joined-up content across multiple platforms. This includes website copywriting, long-form blog content, email communication, and practical sales and marketing materials that support ongoing business activity.
